No news for a whiiiiiile :) A bit of laziness in the air... but the Kalymnos convenient studio with wifi motivates to update the blog !
So Badami is a fairly little town around 30 000 inhabitants 150km from Hampi which is in indian time.. 6 hours of bus ! This where I met the group of french friends coming in India for a few weeks. So after Hampi and its quiet and relaxing environment (and as well westerner ultra-friendly) Badami is more what I was looking for in my travel in India. Badami is quite touristic but for Indians and is a religious pilgrimage place due to many archaeological places in the town and nearby. The town by itself is very lively, noisy, dirty and many climbers who went there didn't like it very much... However it's a perfect place to enjoy Indian lifestyle and the many Indian tourists are very friendly and keen on having a talk with you as well as taking pictures of you !
Around Badami the two sites Pattadakal and Ahiole are worth a visit perfect for a climbing rest day.
So yeah Badami is as well a climbing paradise, the town is surrounded by splendid sandstone cliff. It's maybe the best sandstone I've climbed....very solid and thin grain and awesome colors and features. However the bolting is not so friendly, often very spaced and with many missing bolts. So if you come here bring some extra bolts or use some nuts to tie on the screws...
I definitely recommend this place which is more authentic than Hampi !
